These 10 UNIQUE Novel Study Projects and Rubrics for Grades 7/8 can be used with ANY book.
Novel study projects provide an engaging way for students to interact with literature, explore themes, and develop a deeper understanding of the books they read.
These projects can be used in two ways:
- Whole-Class Novel Study: If your class is reading a particular novel together, select a project that aligns with the themes and content of the book. Assign this project to all students.
- Student Choice: If students are reading different novels independently, give a choice of two or more projects. Allow them to pick the project that best suits their book and interests. This promotes autonomy/enthusiasm for reading.
Assess each project using the provided rubrics. This resource connects to all four strands of the NEW 2023 Grade 7/8 Ontario Language Curriculum. This is Language learning at it's best!
